Dr. Carol J. Piccirillo

Clinical Psychologist

My work as a psychologist is rooted in the desire to explore the part of ourselves that wants to change and make meaning out of things we don’t understand.

We all struggle at some point in our life to overcome personal and professional obstacles. Sometimes, we can be walking down a path that feels like it fits for us, but then recognize we are heading in the wrong direction. We can feel lost, without direction, worrying that we don’t know ourselves or which way to turn. Other times, we may lose the motivation to walk on any path. I became a psychologist to be part of the process that illuminates aspects of these types of struggles and helps bring understanding, change, and resolution.

My philosophy is that change begins within and then extends outward. You first have to be willing to take a look at yourself and your relationships before any change can take place. Inward exploration and outward sharing create a foundation for growth.

During my graduate education, I focused on working with adults who were struggling with anxiety and depression, parents who were struggling in their relationships with their adult children, couples struggling to know how to connect and continue to love each other after years of discord and disconnection, and families that faced the strain of contention and disagreement.
